How many hours does Illinois require?
87 hours of qualifying education effective January 1, 2026 — Basic Appraisal Principles (30), Basic Appraisal Procedures (30), USPAP Equivalency (15), Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws (8) and the Supervisory Appraiser/Trainee Appraiser course (4). All five are included in both packages on this page.
How long do I have to finish?
You get 180 days of access from enrollment and work entirely at your own pace. If you need longer, extensions are available for an additional fee.
What are the course exams like?
Each course ends with a timed, proctored final exam that you pass at 70% or better, with up to four attempts. There are quizzes and knowledge checks throughout the courses as well.
Do I need a supervisory appraiser?
Yes. As an associate trainee you work under a certified supervisory appraiser, who signs off on the experience hours you log toward your next credential level. The 4-hour Supervisory Appraiser/Trainee course included here covers how that relationship works.
